This is the yet unfinished story of a German - Spanish couple with five children who left their home in Germany to widen their horizon at the other end of the world - New Zealand. They moved from Mainhardt (Lkr Schwäbisch Hall, Baden-Württemberg) to spend 2+ years in Thames (Coromandel, Waikato, North Island) in September 2010.

Premiere
Our new fireplace on it's first run.
Whenever I complained about cold weather in New Zealand, I got the comment: well, you must be used to much colder weather in Germany!
The answer I give is always the same: You know, in the New Zealand winter it is relatively warm outside, but inside the houses it feels cold. In Germany, it may be very cold outside, but the houses are usually warm inside. It is affordable to heat them because of the insulation.
Well, this fireplace is a very effective one, so we don't suffer any more, and the living area is large, and we all fit in there, everyone has his corner.
