The "Accident"

This months has been determined by an accident that happened to me on the 25th January.
I was standing behind a seemingly parked car on the busy Thames Saturday Market. I looked in the direction opposite to the car. Suddenly, under the eyes of Elena and our boys Felix and Daniel, the car reversed very quickly and threw me to the ground. The driver later said that he revved up to jumpstart another car (Starthilfe) and accidentally skipped the gear into reverse.
I am very lucky that I did not brake a bone or bump my head. I just got a deep wound on my right ankle big enough to need a skin graft. So I spent eight days in hospital and I am still off work, probably until 10th March.
This sounds bad but it has a good side as well as it gives me some time to prepare my new position in Thames hospital emergency department which I will be commencing on 10 March, as well as for my Diagnostic Ultrasound course - all that would have been a bit much otherwise I think now.
And, I have had a good look "behind the scenes" from a patient perspective - and experienced lots of friendliness and care, from new and born-and-bread Kiwis equally.
